My Cancer Story – Roy
I had a sore throat for about 3 weeks, and after self-medicating, decided to go to the GP, whose initial thoughts were an abscess on my tonsils, but sadly turned out to be tonsil cancer.
I was diagnosed in June 2022 and started radiotherapy 5 days a week for 6 weeks in August and finished at the end of September. I also had 2 rounds of chemo at the beginning and end of my treatment.
I was given the all clear in January 2023 and now volunteer once a week on the cancer ward at Halton hospital, some of the patients find it reassuring to know I have beaten it.
Being a member of the Warrington and Halton head and neck cancer support group has most definitely helped me.
